When we moved to our apartment in Galveston Island, I fell in love with the ambiance and natural light coming in from our windows. I most especially love the laundry room, since we never had windows in our previous laundry areas.  The laundry room can be the place that I forget to clean and organize, which quickly leads to clutter since I have 3 little boys and a husband. 😉 It tends to turn into a storage of art supplies, puzzles and games, unironed clothes, a pile of bedsheets, and my collection of cardboards and boxes. The cardboard and box collection, I’ll explain more about later.

Since the spring season is coming, my goal is to start cleaning and organizing our laundry room. With the help of a few cleaning products from Dollar General, my laundry room transformed into a clean area with a fresh vibe for the new season. Here are a few of the ways which helped me do it! Enjoy browsing and see the before image below. Don’t judge. :)

I realized many things piling in the laundry room were not useful or important, just eating up space and making the room cluttered. One of these things were my cardboards and boxes… BUT, I tossed some of them out using Glad® Trash Bags and kept the other boxes in storage for future use.

I wiped the blinds, countertops, appliances, windows, and shelves to remove dust all over the room. Using paper towels and Formula® 409 made my cleaning so much easier.

We had a pile of bedsheets that needed to be cleaned, so I finished washing them to lessen the amount of things waiting to be washed. I used all® Laundry Detergent, which we’ve always used for our bedsheets and clothes, especially for the kids. We also have a child who had bad eczema, so we like to use this dermatologist recommended detergent.

We’ve never cleaned our washer ever since buying it, so I gave it a deep cleaning with some bleach to remove mildew and avoid mold growth and nasty smells.

I kept the cleaning supplies for the laundry inside this DIY storage that I made using… My collection of boxes, covered with a cute fabric! See? My collection can be useful! I think keeping supplies inside a storage box makes the room look cleaner and well organized. It acts as decor as well.

Indoor plants can change the atmosphere of a room. Since our laundry room has plenty of natural light, I added a hanging planter to finish the area. This room is totally ready for spring! And… If you are wondering how our laundry room looked before… Oh boy, here it is.

I arranged all the kids’ puzzle/games together in a large box where my kids could easily grab them. I use the cabinets to arrange some of their learning and art materials too.
