5 Minute Spring Makeup Look + Makeup GIVEAWAY!

Monday, April 10, 2017

3

Since my kids are close in age and toddlers now, they play together well. I’m taking advantage of this by using the time to do a quick makeup application for myself. This application is something I do before we engage in an outdoor activity or even when we’re just at home. It’s a good way to wake me up and help me feel ready to chase my boys around. 😉 Here’s a step-by-step makeup tutorial, perfect for women who only have 5 minutes to spare for makeup. This is great for busy moms like me!

5-minute-spring-makeup-look-giveaway (3)

1 After I moisturize, I use a primer that has an illuminance glow finish on my face. I love it!

2 Using liquid concealer that comes with a wand, I apply it under my eyes and around my nose to even out these areas.

3 I usually use my fingers to blend my concealer, but I find using beauty blender (similar like this)a quicker way to blend liquid concealers. I love to spray my beauty blender with a bit of facial spray (water will work too), so that it’s easy to blend with the liquid product.

4 Right now, I like using an eyebrow pencil that comes with a brush tool on the end. This way, I can brush off and blur edges quickly.

5 I then apply blush onto my cheeks. I have recently been using a lip and cheek stain as my blush, which is easy to apply and blend using just your fingertips. I love how it stays on longer. Plus, it is made with all-natural ingredients like cherry fruit water which prevents fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.

6 I use the same product for my cheeks for my lip color. I also like how the colors fit for springtime. I have dry lips, so I like to apply lip balm on top of it.

7 Next, I curl my eyelashes and apply mascara.

8 After that, I put highlighter powder on my upper cheeks and/or bridge of the nose. I use a technique where I spray a little bit of facial spray (or water) on the brush, before applying  the highlighter powder on my skin. Check my post about this technique here.

9 (Optional) Apply a flesh-colored eyeliner on your waterline. This makes my eyes open up and helps me look less tired. Be sure you blend, so it won’t look patchy.

10 (Optional) Use a contour powder (which is 2 shades darker than your skintone) on the side of your nose and cheeks.

Dark Lipstick Tutorial

dark-lipstick-tutorial-1

My first makeup tutorial for the year 2017 will be this dark lip tutorial! I know some of you are a fan of dark lip colors, that’s why I want to share a simple and easy way to apply them. There is also a makeup technique that I love to do when I want to turn my lipstick into a matte-looking finish. I have always been a fan of matte finishes for lipcolors, ranging from natural to bold colors. I think it looks lovely! Not only do I love how it looks, it is long-wearing too! Here are a few easy steps to follow:

dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-5 dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-2

Step 1: Use lip liner that has a color close to your lipstick shade. Apply it completely over your lips. In case you didn’t know, lip liners make your lipstick stay longer, as it acts as a base for your lipstick. It can also change your lipstick color if you try to mix them together. See my post about changing lip tone color.

dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-1

Step 2: Apply your favorite dark lipstick completely over your lips. I like to use lip brush, so I can control the application on the edges of my lips. Unless you have a wand like liquid lip color, you may use the wand too.
dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-6

Step 3: Use a translucent powder with a blending brush to dust over your lips. This helps keep your lipstick shine-free and have a more matte look.

That it, done! I told you it’s easy!

What kind of makeup look do you like to wear with your dark lipstick? I like simple eyeshadow with bold brows 🙂

(I used Lorac Pro Contour Palette for my mirror.)

7 Stunning Natural Makeup Looks for Bridesmaids

Monday, January 16, 2017

This is a special week for me, as one of my best friends from high school is getting married! It’s one of the reasons why I flew back to the Philippines; I didn’t want to miss her wedding. I am very blessed to know her and to have shared life experiences with her for over 10 years! Today, I want to share these stunning natural makeup looks that is perfect for bridesmaids, which focus on simplicity and enhancing one’s beauty.

natural-makeup-looks-bridesmaids-1

Try to wear natural, false lashes instead of using dark eyeshadow for the eyes. Don’t forget to put mascara on the lower lashes too. natural-makeup-looks-bridesmaids-2

You can play around with a white eyeshadow all over your eyelids, followed by the use of white highlighter on the tear duct to open up your eyes. Don’t forget to apply mascara generously or use falsies. natural-makeup-looks-bridesmaids-3

Play around with browns for creating a natural makeup look. Again, make sure you blend well when you do contouring on the side of your cheeks so it doesn’t look fake. natural-makeup-looks-bridesmaids-4

If you are planning to use a matte foundation, try putting a highlighter on the bridge of the nose, upper cheeks, and upper lips. Make sure you blend it well. natural-makeup-looks-bridesmaids-5

Choosing foundation that still looks like “natural skin” is always the best way to achieve natural makeup look. natural-makeup-looks-bridesmaids-6

Blur out edges of eyeshadow when you apply it, by using a blending brush. Matte eyeshadow is always my choice for the eyelids. Then, I add highlights to the tear duct. I love this look as it is so simple, yet blooming. natural-makeup-looks-bridesmaids-7

Use a lip color 2 to 3 shades brighter than your natural lip tone.

I hope you enjoyed these images and makeup tips. Just remember, the bride needs to be the focus on her special day. 😉 Bridesmaids should try to have a simple, beautiful makeup that doesn’t overpower the look of the bride. Unless, that is the bride’s request. 🙂

How do you do your natural makeup look?

My Airplane Essentials (Beauty Products I Have to Bring)

Wednesday, January 4, 2017

airplane-essentials-2 airplane-essentials-1

Today, I’ll be sharing my airplane essentials which I love to bring in my hand carry bag. I’m super excited because in the next few days, I’ll be visiting the Philippines together with… *Drum roll please* My kids!! It’s going to be their first time going there, and my first time in over three years! A crazy adventure, I know, but I’m excited for them to go with me! I know it will be so different flying with the kids compared to flying alone. However, thinking about the 20-24 hours of travel and being stuck in the plane with dry air, I want to make sure I have my beauty essentials with me. That way, I can keep my skin hydrated, feel clean, and not look haggard after the flight. 😉

  • Sanitizer – I always keep hand sanitizer with me while travelling as it can sometimes be hard to find time a sink to wash your hands. This is especially true if I’m with my two toddlers.

  • Neutrogena Facial Wipes – I love to wear makeup before I travel (my husband still doesn’t understand why…), but I always make sure to remove my makeup if I’m on the plane and will be staying on a long flight. I feel more comfortable sleeping on the plane if my face is clean and free from makeup and dirt.

  • Moisturizer – I always keep my facial moisturizer in my beauty bag, inside a small container. Staying inside the airplane for long trips makes my skin super dry. That’s why after I remove my makeup with facial wipes, I apply a generous amount of moisturizer to my face. It makes me feel refreshed!

  • Smith’s Rosebud Lip Balm – I don’t forget lip balm to avoid chapped and dry lips. I love this Smith’s lip balm that keeps my lips moisturized and feeling smooth.

  • L’Occitane Hand Cream – This is a great hand cream I got from my mother-in-law. My hands gets dry easily and it’s good to have this in my beauty bag to make my hands feel soft and smooth. Plus, it doesn’t feel sticky!

  • Evian Facial Spray – This is an easy way to feel hydrated during travel. I love to spray my face with this during the summer, but I’m bringing this with me to refresh my face anytime I want during the plane ride.

  • BareMinerals Lipcolor – Before the plane has landed, I like to put minimal makeup on. Since this Bareminerals Lipcolor is liquid with a wand, it is convenient to use while traveling for adding some color to my lips. As I mentioned before, I also love using this for an instant blush.

  • L’oreal Brow Definer – I don’t bring a lot of makeup in my hand carry bag because to be realistic, I don’t have time for that right now. 😉 But if I had to choose just one item to bring, it would have to be makeup for my eyebrows. It makes a big difference with your face if you have good shaped brows 🙂

  • Liquid Concealer – Concealer with a wand is always the best for traveling since it’s easy to apply, and can be used to even out red spots around my nose. I find liquid concealer can also cover up dark circles in a natural-looking way.

  • Clinique Happy Perfume – Of course, I want to smell good during my travels too, especially if I know I’ll have food stains and milk on my clothes… Here’s my all-time favorite Clinique Happy Perfume. It’s been my favorite ever since I was in highschool.

  • Goody Hair Elastics – To have thick, long hair, I make sure I have extra elastic hair bands to keep my hair out of my face.

  • Pocket Hand Mirror – I like to keep a small pocket mirror inside my makeup bag too. Just in case I have something between my teeth after plane meals, I’ll be able to see it. It might even be able to serve as a toy for my kids… Who knows? Random things surprises them!

  • Tropical bag from Etsy.

What are your travel beauty essentials? Any tips for moms like me who are traveling with toddlers??

7 Must-Try New Year’s Eve Makeup Looks

Thursday, December 29, 2016

new-years-eve-makeup-looks

I promised myself that this year we would celebrate New Year’s Eve, even if we stay at home. I don’t want to just go to sleep in the evening. Something I’ve been missing about New Year’s Eve are the Filipino celebrations. How is the celebration done the Filipino way? With loud music, banging pans to create noise, LOTS of food, parties with family and friends, waiting for the countdown on TV, fireworks and firecrackers everywhere, collecting round type of fruits for fun, wearing polka dots clothes, and so much more! I also miss dressing up and putting makeup on for the occasion! If you have plans for New Year’s Eve, here are 7 makeup looks to give you ideas on what to try for your New Year’s Eve celebration.

Wear matte red lipstick.

Double the liner, but try a liquid metallic on top to add some fun to your eyes.

Or, simply play with winged eyeliner and a bare skin look.

Try metallic colored eyeshadow to emphasize your eyes. Don’t forget to apply it on the tear duct area as well.

Opt for golden metallic eyeshadow all over the eyelids, and use false lashes if you’d like.

Try colored shimmer eyeshadow for smokey eyes. Use two colors like deep purple and bronze (for crease) to get a nice gradient look.

Smokey eyes don’t always have to be black. You can try using different tones of silver or gray, and use white eyeliner on the waterline to open up your eyes.

Less foundation is always good for pictures. Just make sure you brush off some setting powder on the areas of your face that get shiny (like your T-zone, around the nose). Avoid wearing foundation with a high SPF. This helps keep your face from reflecting white in photos with flash due to the foundation.

I hope everyone will have a blessed and fun celebration! How do you celebrate New Year’s Eve? Share it in the comment box below! 🙂

See you next year!

Gift Ideas: What To Get Mom For Christmas

Saturday, December 17, 2016

gift-ideas-what-to-give-mom-with-little-hands

If you are a husband, family member, or a friend who still doesn’t know what to give for the wonderful woman in your life called “Mom,” here are 7 great gift guides that I put together!

  1. Comfortable Sneakers –  Running and chasing after small kids is definitely exhausting, especially if Mom is with her kid/s in the park or doing errands. Wearing comfortable sneakers is a must, and a gift that will surely be appreciated.
  2. Classic Watch –  I love wearing watches all the time because I can track the time (I like old fashioned 😉 ) for daily activities with my kids. I have my black Swatch, but I think this brown classic watch is perfect for matching with casual outfits on a date night with husband.
  3. Liquid Lipcolor – As a mom, it’s hard to find the time to look in the mirror and put something on our face, just to look awake. I recommend this liquid lipcolor as a gift for Mom because it’s easy to apply.  I also use it as my blush for instant glow on my cheeks.
  4. Mom Mug:  This copper mug with the word “Mom” etched on the side is a cute gift for the mothers in your life.
  5. Inspiring Journal: I like this journal because of its cover which says, “‘Cast your anxiety on Him because he cares for you’ 1 Peter 5:7”  I would like to have this journal for writing down inspiring quotes or Bible verses, important happenings with my family or motherhood, or even for doodling and sketching.
  6. Wireless Bluetooth Headset: I think this is a cool and helpful present for mothers with little ones. I would totally love to have this so that I can talk on the phone hands-free while cooking, preparing meals, changing diapers, or even trying to remove koala bears from my legs. 😉
  7. Hello Fresh : I tried this when my sister-in-law sent me 2 meal plans. The ingredients and instructions will be sent to you in packages and all you need is to follow the instructions and cook what they deliver. No chopping needed! I love that idea! If you are far away from your friend who is a mom,  surprise her by sending a gift card!

What is the coolest, but also helpful gift you ever received as a mom? What do you like to give to other moms with little ones?

holiday-makeup-tutorial-get-picture-perfect-look-gif

Hello, beauties!! I know some of you are very excited this month because of the holidays, and especially because of all the family get-togethers, parties and photos  with loved ones. There will certainly be a lot of photo taking this month.  For example, I did my own makeup for our Christmas family photo session just last week! That’s why I’m sharing a step-by-step makeup tutorial with you so that you’re camera-ready.. With today’s post I tried something fun for the eyes. If you’ve been wanting to wear sparkle and glitter on your eyes without looking tacky, I’ll show you to create a simple, stunning eye makeup look. Here’s the full face makeup step-by-step tutorial to give you more confidence with your photos!
holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-2

Step 1 After you moisturize your face, begin to fill your brows the way you normally do. I’m using a brown matte eyeshadow with an angle brush.

Step 2 Fill the entire eyelid with an eyeshadow base. I used Neutrogena cream eyeshadow on a stick that acts as a primer as well.

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-1

Step 3 If you don’t have glitter eyeshadow, you may simply use an eye cream and golden glitter mixed together. I applied this DIY glitter eyeshadow on my entire eyelid and blended upwards. holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-3

Step 4 I thought of doing a simple cat-winged eyeliner, so I grabbed my small angle brush with gel eyeliner. I then began to draw a small line upward on the outer part of my eye, followed by a line on my upper lash line. Finally, I connected them together at the end of the small line, on the outer corner of my eye. You may apply 2 coats to cover excess glitter.
holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-5

Step 5  To get the perfect winged eyeliner, I used Neutrogena® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. They cleaned up the excess and also some of the glitter that fell off my eyelids. It’s really easy and quick to do this! Not only do the towelettes clean, they are also  gentle around my eye. This is especially great for contact lens users like me.

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-6

Step 7 Curl your lashes.

Step 8 Apply your favorite mascara.

Step 9 Begin to apply your foundation. Blend well.

Step 10 Use concealer to cover dark circles and highlight some areas like the bridge of your nose.

Step 11 Apply blush using a big brush. I love to apply my blush before I use setting powder. I think it makes my blush last longer

Step 12 Set your concealer with setting powder so it doesn’t move or become cakey. Don’t forget to dust a setting powder on your T-zone as well. This helps prevent you from getting a shiny look in pictures.

Step 13 Don’t forget to apply mascara on your lower lash line.

Step 14 Slightly highlight the bridge of your nose with a highlighter powder. (This is optional if you have a narrow nose.)

Step 15 Using your little finger, dab with the same highlighter powder, then dab that on your tear duct, and blend. This is a good tip for taking pictures, especially for the holidays. 😉

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-7

Finally, don’t forget to apply your lip product! I am currently loving this Neutrogena® MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Soft Raspberry (60). It keeps my lips moisturized, and it lets me choose the color that I want with 16 shades to choose from! The application is easy to do since it uses a twist-up mechanism. That means no sharpener needed!

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-4

Beauty Tip: For a quick brush cleaning between makeup applications, I love to use Neutrogena® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette to remove makeup from my brushes. The towelette smells so good! This Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette is perfect when you’re on-the-go. You can just put it in your purse and forget about it until you need it. They’re great at removing stubborn makeup, such as waterproof mascara and eyeliner.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes and Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Sticks are both available at Walmart.
