comfy pregnancy look + life being a mom of all boys (2)

It’s FRIDAY!! Happy mom here! Today, I want to share a glimpse of life being a mom of all boys. I think I’ve heard, “Oh boy! (with pity face..)” a hundred times after I started to share that my third baby is another boy. 😉 When people were asking me about what I’m having, most of them were supportive. Although, a few people were giving me weird comments like, “Why is it not a girl? It should be a girl!” These were coming from strangers in the grocery store. 😉 Being a mom of all boys can sound tiring, crazy, you name it, but I always believe it is how you discipline them. It is important to have a good relationship with your children because in the end, their gender will not matter. What will matter is how you mold them, so that they grow to be good people and followers of Christ.

After my second child was born, I thought my husband and I were done having children. However, after seeing my boys and how much they love to play and laugh together (And yes, arguing with each other, and then playing and laughing again… Oh boy…), I felt that I was not yet done. I told my husband I wanted another child, not just because I wanted to try for a girl, but because I really wanted to have at least 3 kids. Even though I would love to have a girl, I’m very thankful to God that he gave me another chance to get pregnant. It took a long time for me to convince my husband, which I totally understand, since we had a hard time with our son’s reflux before (and I’ve experienced depression which I think it was “D-MER“). However, I realized that I was missing the most important tool in my life. That’s why I stopped telling my husband that I wanted another child, and instead, I began to pray for it. And then it happened! God blessed us with another child!

So what’s the life of being a mom to 2 boys like so far? Let me tell you, they are rough, active, loud, you name it. They can also be the sweetest and greatest helpers as well! Here are a few other things about them!

  • They like heroes and dress-up, wearing capes, putting shirts around their faces to be like ninjas (their Tito Nicoy taught about it)
  • They love to jump everywhere, which is why it’s a good thing we have an indoor trampoline!
  • Creating mess is the most fun thing for them to do, but thankfully my husband and I trained them to clean up their own mess.
  • They are sweet to girls!
  • They like to pretend being a hero or a policeman chasing “bad people.”
  • They love books that show giant bears, heroes, construction trucks, and fire trucks
  • They are fascinated with garbage trucks.
  • They eat A LOT and always say they are hungry. People might think I’m starving them…

This has been a time where I’ve been experiencing lots of braxton hicks, especially at night. The tiring part is when I wake up around 3AM because of it. After waking up, it’s hard to go back to sleep. This is probably a good thing that may be an advantage for me. In a way, it’s helping me get ready for the newborn, and having to wake up to feed him. My doctor told me to drink lots of water whenever I experience frequent braxton hicks. My husband also told me to rest and stop making myself tired by doing things like cleaning… But who doesn’t like to have a clean house right? 😉

Over the weekend, we brought the kids around the neighborhood to let them run around before bedtime. I also got some beautiful baby bump shots, while wearing this pretty dress and fitted maternity floral skirt, from Pink Blush. I love how you can wear their clothes even when you’re not pregnant. They have sizes in maternity plus too. If you check out their site, you can see that there are plenty of selections from tops, to dresses, robes, and even accessories. They have a variety of choices to wear, whether it’s for a baby shower look, maternity shoot, or for your daily outfit. You can wear them outside and they make it easy to nurse your baby. Here’s the link to shop for their great clothes!

First of all, I want to thank my husband, Brent for taking these images. I think he’s now accepting that his life married to me involves pictures and photoshoots. 😉 It’s good to have someone to take pictures of you outside. It allows you to have different backgrounds, but if you like the indoors, and the husband is not available, check out my post: “Taking photos of your own baby bump.” I have some tips there on how I take pictures of myself inside, using a tripod.
As I turned 36 weeks pregnant, I feel that I’m getting close to the finale! Things have been busy preparing for my new son’s arrival. We’ve been washing new clothes that we received from my baby shower, preparing a bassinet, and washing breast pump bottles and extra bottles (so Brent can also feed the baby so I can sleep). I also started to prepare a hospital bag and started to put the things I need for my little one and myself. I’d love to hear what you need in a hospital bag. I feel like I’m missing something!

summer-blue-white-stripes

Summer stripes like blue and white, are often my favorites to wear this time of season. I’ve been wearing stripes recently on my tops and dresses, which I like to pair with comfy sneakers or sandals. They help to keep me more comfortable in my pregnancy. You can also style these kinds of stripes in wearing wedges if you’re into dressing up especially in date night or weekend style. I wanted to share some of the blue and white summer stripes that caught my attention. They are more of a casual style and will make your outfit look comfy and cool this summer.

(Beach bag from Abejas Boutique, similar here / Thin belt similar here)

I am soon reaching the end of my second trimester, and my baby bump has been showing a lot these past few weeks. I love this time in my pregnancy as I can still wear clothes that aren’t maternity clothes. Lately, I’ve been choosing dresses over tops and pants because I’ve been easily feeling warm. I know it’s only spring in Texas, but it feels like summer to me. That’s the pregnant life, along with chasing two toddlers around.

When choosing clothes while I’m pregnant, I like to get one size bigger than my usual and try to style it with a belt or other accessories.  I’m wearing an off-shoulder dress (in the images above) that I got from T.J. Maxx. It’s not a maternity dress, but it has a flowy style, so I thought it would be perfect to wear while I’m pregnant. It’s cute for springtime too! Here’s similar piece!

Don’t you think it’s cute to dress up with a baby bump? Here are a few of my favorite picks of dresses and accessories that are on sale! These are great, regular, non-maternity clothes that preggies like me can wear.

DSC_1345 DSC_1329 DSC_1353 DSC_1367

Spring is here! I’m glad I was able to stay in the Philippine tropical weather for almost two months instead of dealing with the cold weather in Houston during January and February. Although, I still whine to my husband about feeling cold in the 76-degree weather we have right now. Looking back, our trip helped me be more grateful to have a shower with hot water, faucets with hot water, good warm clothes, etc. Even though the Philippines is a tropical country, our water for taking a shower is cold. It’s not common to have hot water for showers. What we normally do is use a kettle to heat up the cold water. Then, we pour it into a bucket. Otherwise, we just deal with it and take a cold shower. Ha! Something to think about when I’m whiny about the cold season. 😉

By the way, here’s a style shoot I did in the Philippines wearing Primavera Geo Midi Skirt of 5 Minutes. I matched it with a J.crew ¾ striped top that I got from a thrift store. I listed a striped top, patterned skirt, and pretty sandals that you might want to check out for spring styles.

Gift Ideas: What To Get Mom For Christmas

Saturday, December 17, 2016

gift-ideas-what-to-give-mom-with-little-hands

If you are a husband, family member, or a friend who still doesn’t know what to give for the wonderful woman in your life called “Mom,” here are 7 great gift guides that I put together!

  1. Comfortable Sneakers –  Running and chasing after small kids is definitely exhausting, especially if Mom is with her kid/s in the park or doing errands. Wearing comfortable sneakers is a must, and a gift that will surely be appreciated.
  2. Classic Watch –  I love wearing watches all the time because I can track the time (I like old fashioned 😉 ) for daily activities with my kids. I have my black Swatch, but I think this brown classic watch is perfect for matching with casual outfits on a date night with husband.
  3. Liquid Lipcolor – As a mom, it’s hard to find the time to look in the mirror and put something on our face, just to look awake. I recommend this liquid lipcolor as a gift for Mom because it’s easy to apply.  I also use it as my blush for instant glow on my cheeks.
  4. Mom Mug:  This copper mug with the word “Mom” etched on the side is a cute gift for the mothers in your life.
  5. Inspiring Journal: I like this journal because of its cover which says, “‘Cast your anxiety on Him because he cares for you’ 1 Peter 5:7”  I would like to have this journal for writing down inspiring quotes or Bible verses, important happenings with my family or motherhood, or even for doodling and sketching.
  6. Wireless Bluetooth Headset: I think this is a cool and helpful present for mothers with little ones. I would totally love to have this so that I can talk on the phone hands-free while cooking, preparing meals, changing diapers, or even trying to remove koala bears from my legs. 😉
  7. Hello Fresh : I tried this when my sister-in-law sent me 2 meal plans. The ingredients and instructions will be sent to you in packages and all you need is to follow the instructions and cook what they deliver. No chopping needed! I love that idea! If you are far away from your friend who is a mom,  surprise her by sending a gift card!

What is the coolest, but also helpful gift you ever received as a mom? What do you like to give to other moms with little ones?
