How to achieve fresh makeup HERO

I have a fun and fresh-looking makeup tutorial today a look for a clean summer look. I’m sharing my favorite makeup techniques and tips to achieve glowing skin, and to keep you feeling fresh and hydrated. Summer in Texas is getting seriously hot, so I have to keep myself well-hydrated. I make sure to drink plenty of fluids for my skin and body. I was inspired to create this fresh makeup look by vitaminwater, which I found at Target. Drinking a refreshing bottle helps keep me hydrated. It tastes great and is perfect for busy lifestyles like mine. Staying hydrated is one of the most important ways to get glowing skin and to achieve a fresh makeup look. Scroll down for a step-by-step tutorial on how to create this look!

1 ) After washing your face and moisturizing, use a tinted moisturizer and apply to your face with your fingers.

2 ) I opt for liquid concealer to even out the dark circles and red spots around my nose. Use a dampened sponge to even out and blend the application well.

3 ) To fill in the brows, use a retractable brow pencil and a brow brush. Blur the edges and lines.

4) Use less powder on specific areas, like under the eyes and around the nose (if you have oily skin in this area), to set the concealer. I like to keep the other areas of my face free from powder so that it looks natural, healthy, and radiant.

5 ) I love using a liquid type of blush. Pat it down on your cheeks, using your fingers to blend. You may also use a cream blush or even lipstick with a creamy texture.

6 ) For this look I prefer a simple style without eyeshadow. This allows you to pat powder on your eyelids for a clean look and matte finish.

7 ) Curl lashes to the side and immediately apply mascara to lock the curls. Do the same for the other eye.

8 ) Apply your favorite lipstick. I’m using pink tone for this look, which is inspired by kiwi-strawberry vitaminwater.

9 ) Finally, use a bronzer to dust around your face and neck.

Makeup tip: Use a spray bottle of water or facial mist spray on a rounded highlighter blush before applying highlighter powder. This makes it stand better, but keeps it looking natural (not flaky or powdery) on the skin. I love using this technique for myself and for my makeup clients.

steps-to-brighten-your-day-Spring (1)

As Spring has begun, I’ve been enjoying the sunny weather every day. I’ve been loving spending time with my kids, whether it’s indoor or outdoor.  But being a stay-at-home mom, I also love taking a few minutes in the bathroom for myself to freshen up, do something to make me feel good, and get ready for a busy  day with my kids. For today’s post, I’m excited to team up with Colgate® and their new Colgate® Optic White® RADIANT™ Toothpaste as part of my everyday routine to bring out confidence at the start of each day. I always believe that the best accessory is a smile that can create a great impact not only for ourselves but also for others – including our kids. It can lead to positive thinking and can cheer up an otherwise dull day. Here are some easy steps you can try to get some confidence!

FRESHEN UP TO SMILE

steps-to-brighten-your-day-Spring (2) 14

Before I start putting makeup on, I always make sure that I have clean teeth for a great smile on my face. I recently discovered Colgate® Optic White® RADIANT™ Toothpaste, a new product in Kroger which helps to boost my confidence every day. The best part is that it is safe to use to whiten inside and out. I love to smile (and most especially to laugh) with my kids, especially when taking selfies with them 😉 I think confidence starts from a great smile with white teeth!

SIMPLE GLOW

steps-to-brighten-your-day-Spring (6)

Simple makeup can make big difference throughout the day, whether you want to focus on brows, covering your dark circles or trying a new lip color. Makeup surely brings out some confidence. As a mom with small kids, I like to do a simple application  focusing on areas I like to enhance for me to feel awake and confident. After I wash my face and moisturize, I like to use eyebrow pencil, liquid concealer to cover dark circles,  mascara, a highlighter, blush, and swipe on some lip color. I like coral tone this Spring!

EASY HAIRSTYLE

steps-to-brighten-your-day-Spring (7)

Creating a simple hairstyle is also a perfect way to add a cheerful look for Springtime, whether it’s a bun, braid or if you just want to have your hair up. I either do a side braid or half braid if I want my hair to look “pretty” and to match my look for a day.

WEAR WHAT YOU LOVE

steps-to-brighten-your-day-Spring (8)

I love to wear lighter-colored outfits during Springtime. I think choosing a happy color and good style will make you feel great this season. It makes me smile  and feel inspired when I see fellow mothers who take time for themselves to dress up, even if it’s  just a simple style. Any mothers here who feel the same?

ACCESSORIZE

12

It’s hard for me to accessorize jewelry during Winter since I’m covered with a heavy jacket and too many layers (I don’t miss that season..)  But it’s Spring now and I’m happy to finally get to use my jewelry to match my Spring outfits! I like to keep it simple and wear either a necklace or earrings just to add a bit of style to my outfit.

Dark Lipstick Tutorial

dark-lipstick-tutorial-1

My first makeup tutorial for the year 2017 will be this dark lip tutorial! I know some of you are a fan of dark lip colors, that’s why I want to share a simple and easy way to apply them. There is also a makeup technique that I love to do when I want to turn my lipstick into a matte-looking finish. I have always been a fan of matte finishes for lipcolors, ranging from natural to bold colors. I think it looks lovely! Not only do I love how it looks, it is long-wearing too! Here are a few easy steps to follow:

dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-5 dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-2

Step 1: Use lip liner that has a color close to your lipstick shade. Apply it completely over your lips. In case you didn’t know, lip liners make your lipstick stay longer, as it acts as a base for your lipstick. It can also change your lipstick color if you try to mix them together. See my post about changing lip tone color.

dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-1

Step 2: Apply your favorite dark lipstick completely over your lips. I like to use lip brush, so I can control the application on the edges of my lips. Unless you have a wand like liquid lip color, you may use the wand too.
dark-lipstick-tutorial-2-6

Step 3: Use a translucent powder with a blending brush to dust over your lips. This helps keep your lipstick shine-free and have a more matte look.

That it, done! I told you it’s easy!

What kind of makeup look do you like to wear with your dark lipstick? I like simple eyeshadow with bold brows :-)

Holiday Makeup Tutorial (To get that picture-perfect look!)

Monday, December 5, 2016

holiday-makeup-tutorial-get-picture-perfect-look-gif

Hello, beauties!! I know some of you are very excited this month because of the holidays, and especially because of all the family get-togethers, parties and photos  with loved ones. There will certainly be a lot of photo taking this month.  For example, I did my own makeup for our Christmas family photo session just last week! That’s why I’m sharing a step-by-step makeup tutorial with you so that you’re camera-ready.. With today’s post I tried something fun for the eyes. If you’ve been wanting to wear sparkle and glitter on your eyes without looking tacky, I’ll show you to create a simple, stunning eye makeup look. Here’s the full face makeup step-by-step tutorial to give you more confidence with your photos!
holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-2

Step 1 After you moisturize your face, begin to fill your brows the way you normally do. I’m using a brown matte eyeshadow with an angle brush.

Step 2 Fill the entire eyelid with an eyeshadow base. I used Neutrogena cream eyeshadow on a stick that acts as a primer as well.

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-1

Step 3 If you don’t have glitter eyeshadow, you may simply use an eye cream and golden glitter mixed together. I applied this DIY glitter eyeshadow on my entire eyelid and blended upwards. holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-3

Step 4 I thought of doing a simple cat-winged eyeliner, so I grabbed my small angle brush with gel eyeliner. I then began to draw a small line upward on the outer part of my eye, followed by a line on my upper lash line. Finally, I connected them together at the end of the small line, on the outer corner of my eye. You may apply 2 coats to cover excess glitter.

Step 5  To get the perfect winged eyeliner, I used Neutrogena® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. They cleaned up the excess and also some of the glitter that fell off my eyelids. It’s really easy and quick to do this! Not only do the towelettes clean, they are also  gentle around my eye. This is especially great for contact lens users like me.

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-6

Step 7 Curl your lashes.

Step 8 Apply your favorite mascara.

Step 9 Begin to apply your foundation. Blend well.

Step 10 Use concealer to cover dark circles and highlight some areas like the bridge of your nose.

Step 11 Apply blush using a big brush. I love to apply my blush before I use setting powder. I think it makes my blush last longer

Step 12 Set your concealer with setting powder so it doesn’t move or become cakey. Don’t forget to dust a setting powder on your T-zone as well. This helps prevent you from getting a shiny look in pictures.

Step 13 Don’t forget to apply mascara on your lower lash line.

Step 14 Slightly highlight the bridge of your nose with a highlighter powder. (This is optional if you have a narrow nose.)

Step 15 Using your little finger, dab with the same highlighter powder, then dab that on your tear duct, and blend. This is a good tip for taking pictures, especially for the holidays. 😉

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-7

Finally, don’t forget to apply your lip product! I am currently loving this Neutrogena® MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Soft Raspberry (60). It keeps my lips moisturized, and it lets me choose the color that I want with 16 shades to choose from! The application is easy to do since it uses a twist-up mechanism. That means no sharpener needed!

holiday-makeup-tutorial-to-get-picture-perfect-4

Beauty Tip: For a quick brush cleaning between makeup applications, I love to use Neutrogena® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette to remove makeup from my brushes. The towelette smells so good! This Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette is perfect when you’re on-the-go. You can just put it in your purse and forget about it until you need it. They’re great at removing stubborn makeup, such as waterproof mascara and eyeliner.

7 Ways How To Feel Beautiful Fast

Monday, October 24, 2016

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast

I love the cool weather of early fall and late spring, but I can’t take the colder months. How about you? It’s been 5 years since I came to America from a tropical island, and I’m still not used to cold weather. Not only do I get cold easily (My husband says I need more fat), but the cold makes my skin much drier and I get lazy to fix myself up. Oops… Today, I’ll be sharing few of my favorite ways on how to feel beautiful fast during the cold months. These tips are also great for busy moms who have active toddlers like me!
1. BRAID OVERNIGHT

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-5

If you’re tired of having your hair up everyday, try to braid your hair (when it’s dry) before you go to bed. When you wake up in the morning you’ll have an instant wavy hair look!  My favorite way to braid my hair is on the side (image above). I like to put down my hair during the cold season because my long hair acts as a shield for the cold breeze. 😉 This overnight braiding is perfect for busy women or moms, who are looking for a time-saving hair style in the morning.

2. MOISTURIZE IMMEDIATELY

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-3

Moisturize your skin immediately. I love how Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer offers an easy way to moisturize my skin. Right after showering I apply it to my wet skin – no need to dry off first!  Then, I pat my body dry afterwards. I like how convenient the process is: it keeps me from skipping moisturizing my skin after I shower. I picked up two different scents at Walmart. The first one was Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Cherry Almond Essence, a new scent that is is exclusive to Walmart. I also grabbed a bottle of Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Calming Green Tea Oil, and I love the smell!

3. MAKE YOUR OWN TINTED MOISTURIZER

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-2

Cold weather makes my face dry, and that’s why I choose a foundation that also moisturizes my skin. I love to use tinted moisturizer. If you don’t have this product at home, you can make one on your own by mixing your favorite facial moisturizer and foundation together. Not only does it moisturize your skin, it also quickly evens out your skin tone. The application is fast and easy, as all you need are your fingers. Just apply it as you would regular moisturizer. Tip: If you have matte foundation, try to squeeze a little bit of highlighter liquid or a tiny bit of baby oil onto your DIY tinted moisturizer, and then blend them well.  This will help your skin look radiant and dewy during the cold season.

4. SWITCH TO CREAM BLUSH

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-6

Like I often mention in my beauty posts, cream blushes are fast and easy to apply and they last longer throughout the day. Plus, they give natural blush to your cheeks without looking powdery. I also love to use liquid lipstick that comes with a wand. It’s convenient to use and I can also use it as an instant-blush.

5. WHAT YOU WEAR IS WHAT YOU FEEL

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-8

During the fall and winter, it is so easy to stay in pajamas all day. Sometimes I notice my mom or husband are dressed up, and I ask, “Where are you going?” Often they are not going anywhere – they just like to look nice! One of the things I learned from my husband (who is a psychologist) is that taking the time to dressed up in the morning, makes you feel more awake and positive. You don’t have to dress up in formal attire or anything, just something nicer than your pajamas. Changing into some nicer clothes and fixing your hair and makeup a little bit can help lead to a beautiful feeling. Not only are you taking care of yourself, but you also inspire others (like your kids) to take care of themselves as well.
6. ADD SIMPLE ACCESSORIES

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-9

Whether you chose to wear sunglasses or add a scarf to your wardrobe, this is a quick and easy way to definitely boost your confidence and make yourself feel beautiful fast!

7. BEAUTY COMES FROM THE INSIDE

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-7

Reading the Bible is one of the best ways to feel beautiful fast. Before my day becomes busy with the kids, reading my Bible in the morning helps me to think and feel positively beautiful. It’s a great foundation for your heart and mind, to feel and see the beauty of God working in you. I’m in the book of John right now, and I really like the verse where Jesus says, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life.” (John 4:13-14)

7-ways-how-to-feel-beautiful-fast-10

By the way, Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer has other scents like Nourishing Monoi Oil, Refreshing Coconut Oil (I’ll try this one next!), and Restoring Argan Oil. All of these scents are essential oils that work with your wet skin to lock in moisture. Try using this product right after you shower to experience how quickly it moisturizes, keeping your skin soft throughout the day.

Easy And Fun Sprinkle Lip Art Tutorial

Sunday, October 16, 2016

easy-fun-sprinkle-lip-art-tutorial-2

I’ve been browsing my past creative makeup work and I stumbled upon this look that I did way back in 2012. I love how colorful and fun it looks, and it can be wear for Halloween makeup too. If you don’t want to wear full makeup, you can simply focus on the lips and still make it fun. Today, I’ll be sharing how I created this sprinkle-styled lip look, so you can use it this coming Halloween. All it takes are 3 easy steps and you are ready to go!
easy-fun-sprinkle-lip-art-tutorial

1 ) Choose A Bright Lip Color

To start, I chose a bright pink lip color (similar) for my lips, as a base for the sprinkles. You may also try a bright orange for a more vibrant and colorful base. Be sure that the lip colors are evenly applied.

2) Apply Lip Gloss

To make the sprinkles stick better on the lips, apply a generous amount of lip gloss onto your lips.

3) Kiss a Plate of Sprinkles

Place a good amount of sprinkles (whatever kind of shapes you like) on a small, flat plate or container. With your lips dampened by the gloss, place your lips on plate or container with the sprinkles. Make sure sprinkles are covering all areas of your lips by moving them side to side.

Optional: Add a pink heart on your cheek to finish the look!

And it’s done!! Now you have fun lips to wear for Halloween!

Any fun makeup ideas you want to try for Halloween? Happy Monday!

P.S Don’t forget to pin! :)

How To: Changing Lip Tone Color

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

how-to-changing-lip-tone-color

Putting on makeup becomes more fun when I try to blend and mix colors together. One product experiment with the most is lip color. Lip liners are not only great as a base and make lipstick last longer, but they also help the lip color change tone, brightness, and darkness. I recently used this bareMinerals Gen Nude in Juju. There are some days I stick to one lip product, but want to change its tone. That’s why today, I’ll show you how I change my current favorite lip color to a different tone. It is perfect fit for this new season, fall! makeup-tricks-changing-tone-of-lipcolor-fall-winter

how-to-changing-lip-tone-color-fall-winter-look-7

1. RED LINER

I find red liner is my favorite base of all, if I want to make my natural lip product vibrant. If you have one like this just laying around, or if you are hesitant to use red lip liner, this is the perfect time to try!

how-to-changing-lip-tone-color-fall-winter-look-1 how-to-changing-lip-tone-color-fall-winter-look-4

2. BROWN LINER

My current fave lip color, bareMinerals Gen Nude in Juju, has a pink tone. That’s why I decided to try a brown eyeliner to add a hint of brown tone to it. It’s not as big of a difference compared to the red liner, but I can tell that it changed the saturation when I used the brown liner as a base.

how-to-changing-lip-tone-color-fall-winter-look-2 how-to-changing-lip-tone-color-fall-winter-look-5

3. BLACK LINER

I was skeptical about using black eyeliner as a base thinking it might look gothic,  mixing it with my Juju lip color. Surprisingly, I LOVE how it turned out. It created a nice Fall Season lip tone that suits my skintone. I think I’ll add more black for the base to make it look darker next time I apply my Juju lip color.

how-to-changing-lip-tone-color-fall-winter-look-3 how-to-changing-lip-tone-color-fall-winter-look-6

NOTE: If you try this technique and use eye liners as a base often,  I recommend getting seperate brown or black eyeliners (or any other colored eyeliners) for the lips and eyes. You can also sanitize the eyeliners by wiping them with rubbing alcohol, letting them dry, and then sharpening them. For retractable eye liners, it’s easy to clean by wiping them with rubbing alcohol. Always make sure they are completely dry before using them on your eyes. :)

Have you tried this technique? What liner colors do you want to try?
